The house that stands here today was once used by the US Army as a Headquarters, during the winter of 1944 to 45.

The house was used by the US 99th Infantry Division as the headquarters for their commander, Major General Walter E. Lauer.

General Eisenhower visited the headquarters during the winter of 1944 to 45 and stayed at the house for several days. This was captured by Army photographer units who accompanied him.

Today, outside the front of the house is a commemorative plaque which features General Eisenhower. It makes note of his presence and stay here during the Second World War.
